If you're planing on making your own wedding veil, (or even hand beading your own bridal headpiece) then you'll need to attach it to a comb. We a variety of metal wire comb styles, a clear plastic comb style, and metal headband bases to make headpieces with.

Here are some tips for making and sewing your own bridal veil for your wedding:

When selecting the fabric, look "Bridal Illusion" (not netting or pettycoat netting, which is a very stiff netting)
Use 72" wide Bridal Illusion for standard width wedding veil or 108" wide for an Extra full bridal veil
Iron the Bridal Illusion at the lowest temperature to get the creases out before you cut, but BE CAREFUL - too hot and it will melt the veiling!
Use a rotary cutter - it's much easier that using scissors and gives a more precise cut
A variety of wedding veil patterns are availble at most sewing stores

Who uses wire combs, and how are they used?
Brides making a DIY veil need a plastic or metal hair comb to sew the veil to. Which kind you choose depends upon your hairstyle, hair thickness, etc. Metal combs are more flexible and are good for thick or curly hair. You can also bend them to fit the shape of your head. They are also able to manuever around lots of bobby pins if your are wearing an updo. Plastic combs are good for straight or thin hair.

Tips to help the comb stay in your hair: One method is to make a pincurl were you are going to palce the comb an "X" shape made of bobby pins. This gives something the comb teeth to did into and keep the veil on your head.
Another method is to tease a small area of hair, then spay it well with firm hold hairspray. Let dry well, then slide the comb into that area to keep it well anchored.
